Driving & Parking on Campus

Rules and Regulations:
Students who drive a motor vehicle to school must know and obey the following rules:
- Each student must register his/her vehicle each school year.
- Each student must display a parking permit for the current year and park in assigned spaces.
- Driving from school grounds during school hours is not allowed without permission.
- Speeding or careless driving on school grounds and on streets bordering the school is not permitted.
- Parking in a no-parking area is a direct violation.
- Sitting in cars is not permitted. A student must leave his/her car within one minute after arriving at school.
- Students may not go out to the parking lot during school hours unless permission is obtained from the office.
- Any illegally parked vehicle is subject to be towed at owner's expense.
- Parking on school grounds without a permit could result in disciplinary action.
- Parking on unpaved areas is not permitted.
- Students may lose their driving privileges (and/or other disciplinary action may be taken) when they violate any of these rules.
Certificates of Attendance
Students who plan to obtain their learners permits for driving must have a Certificate of Attendance form from their school. The student must be in compliance with TCA 49-6-3017, which states that if a student misses ten (10) consecutive days, fifteen (15) days in one semester, of fails half of his/her subjects at the semester grading period, the student's driving privileges will be revoked.
To have his/her driving priveleges reinstated, the following qualifications must be met:
- If lost due to attendance, the student must attend school for thirty (30) consecutive school days.
- If lost due to grades, the student must pass at least three of his/her classes at the end of the next semester.
