Grading Scale
Red Bank High School uses the State of Tennessee's marking system, in which:
- A = 93 - 100 (The student shows mastery of the subject matter.)
- B = 85 - 92 (The student's work is of a superior nature.)
- C = 75 - 84 (The student's work is of average quality.)
- D = 70 - 74 (The student is not doing all assigned work, and the quality is below normal.)
- F = 0 - 60 (The student's work is unsatisfactory and little growth is taking place.)
- W = withdrawn, no GPA implication
- P = pass, credit awarded, no GPA implication
Report Cards and Progress Reports
Report cards are issued each nine weeks. Progress reports are issued every three weeks during the nine week period. Both report cards and progress reports are issued directly to students, not mailed. Grades are reported on a numerical basis.
Grade Classification
Grade classification occurs at the beginning of the academic school year. Classification (promotion/retention) is based on the student's total accumulated credits.
Grade classification is as follows:
- 0 - 5 credits: 9th Grade
- 6 - 11 credits: 10th Grade
- 12 - 17 credits: 11th Grade
- 18+ credits: 12th Grade
The class of 2009 and beyond will require 20 credits to be classified as a 12th Grade student.
